MMDM partners with local pharmacies in Laredo and the Ministry of Health in Costa Rica to provide much needed medication to the patients we serve.  Licensed pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are a vital part of our team. 

Working with our physicians, the pharmacists review the patients' diagnosis(es) and check the appropriateness of the medication/dosage and frequency.  The pharmacist ensures that the correct medication/dosage and frequency is dispensed as ordered and then counsels the patient/caregiver before giving it to the correct patient. The pharmacist assists in keeping the mission costs down by ensuring that the physicians prescribe the medications on the local pharmacy's discounted price list.  Additionally, the pharmacist tracks the number of prescriptions and over the counter products distributed each day and reports this to the mission team each evening.
