MMDM Spiritual Team
Our spiritual team is led by a priest and helped by our spiritual lay ministers. The priest, one of Nine VPs of the Executive Committee, will travel with MMDM on mission.
The priest will attend the monthly meetings of the Executive Committee. The meetings are generally held every month except for May, June, and July. The VP-Spiritual will generally lead the opening prayer and the concluding prayer at each meeting. The priest is expected to fully participate with the planning of the mission.The priest will attend two annual missions: Laredo and Costa Rica which will last one week, from Saturday to Saturday, one in November and the other in April, respectively. The Laredo mission has a little more timing flexibility due to proximity.The priest is responsible for preparing spiritually the missionaries for mission. This will entail a half day of a Spiritual Retreat or Formation Day. The half day begins with Mass, followed by a light breakfast, prayers, reflections and a time which allows missionaries to introduce themselves, meet their teams, grow and bond spiritually. Max four hours. The retreat/formation is held approximately one month prior to mission. The entire Spiritual team participates in the preparation.The priest will coordinate and approve spiritual presentations which other Spiritual team members will present during retreat/formation and during the mission.While on mission, our priest will be able to participate/lead the following:- Provide daily team mass for the missionaries.
- Set up a table in a location within the mission site and provide rosaries, brochures, etc.
- Provide counseling and/or the sacrament of reconciliation.
- Attend home visits, and/or hospital/senior facilities visits.
- Provide an evening community mass/healing service on Monday – Thursday.
- Be present among the community/mission site.
- Coordinate with the local priest to identify specific community spiritual needs.
- If needed, solicit help in obtaining audio/video equipment to facilitate presentations.
- Coordinate with the Logistics VP and President to identify transportation needs during the mission.
